U
na Janicijevic was born in 1982 and raised in downtown Belgrade, Serbia in an apartment that doubled as her parents' art and design studio. She spent her childhood putting on art sales in the family bathroom and tirelessly trying to teach her dog to sing. Transplanted in 1993 to Toronto, Canada, Una learned to channel her creativity through collage, drawing and woodwork. Her first and only non-art related job was a stint at the Public Library where she spent most of her time resuscitating half-dead books.

BIO
While attending The Ontario College of Art and Design Una’s love for ‘all things paper’ led her to major in editorial design. After spending a few summers doing web design for firefighters and math profs at Seneca College, toward the end of school, she lodged her foot in the door of Report on Business magazine which eventually promoted her from intern to designer. This set her on a path which brought her to her current position at Canada’s oldest news-weekly Maclean’s where she works as an editorial designer and tries to put her collage skills to use whenever possible.

Una’s simultaneous pursuit of collage-based art and illustration, which she calls “her most successful attempt at recycling” has resulted in several group and one solo-show at A.W.O.L. gallery in Toronto and illustration work published in R.O.B., Dose, Peer Review and Shameless magazines.
